1. Information We Collect
To provide Snipcast, we collect the following categories of data:
- Account data: Your email address and authentication details provided by our auth provider (for example OTP login and Google OAuth).
- Content you submit: URLs, uploaded files, and other content you provide for processing.
- Generated content: Summaries, transcripts, and related metadata (for example show name, episode name, cover image, and share link identifiers).
- Usage and account activity: Service usage events, quota and billing usage records, chat messages with summaries, and support-related diagnostic information.
- Payment and subscription data: Subscription status and customer identifiers. Payment card data is processed by Stripe and is not stored by us in full.
- Security and abuse-prevention data: CAPTCHA verification data used to prevent abuse (Cloudflare Turnstile).
- Analytics data: Privacy-friendly website analytics events used to understand product usage and improve the service.
2. Cookies and Local Storage
- Essential cookies: We use cookies required for authentication and session management.
- Local storage: We may store limited convenience data in your browser (for example, remembering the last email address you entered).
You can manage cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other core features from working.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide core functionality, including transcription, summarization, delivery, and account features.
- Process subscriptions, billing, and usage limits.
- Send transactional emails (for example sign-in codes, summary deliveries, and account-related notices).
- Send occasional product updates or marketing emails (you can unsubscribe at any time via email links).
- Detect abuse, secure the service, and troubleshoot issues.
- Improve features, reliability, and product decisions using aggregated analytics.
4. AI and Audio Processing
When you request transcription, summarization, or chat features, your submitted content (including audio, transcript text, and chat context) is processed by our AI and infrastructure providers acting on our behalf. We use this processing to deliver the requested output.
5. Third-Party Processors and Infrastructure
We use third-party services to operate Snipcast. Depending on feature usage, this includes providers for authentication, hosting and storage, payments/subscriptions, email delivery, abuse prevention, and AI/transcription infrastructure.
These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- Account data: retained while your account is active, and for a limited period afterward where required.
- Uploaded files: retained for up to 24 hours for processing and then deleted from temporary processing storage.
- Generated summaries/transcripts: retained so you can access your prior results and shared links.
- Usage, billing, and security records: retained as needed for fraud prevention, service operations, and legal compliance.
If you request deletion, we will delete or anonymize data unless we must retain it for legal, security, or legitimate operational reasons.
7. Public and Shared Content
Some features create shareable links to generated summaries. Anyone with the link may be able to access that summary. Please avoid sharing links publicly if the content is sensitive.
8. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards.
9. Your Rights
If you are in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar privacy rights, you may have rights to:
- Access your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data.
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Request data portability.
